Was that a ride or what?   Yes, I’m referring to the Incredible Hulk Movie for 2008.  The website, incrediblehulkmoviefans.com is dedicated to fans of the Hulk as well as the Incredible Hulk Movie itself.  The 2008 Incredible Hulk Movie is based on the character of the Hulk.  The Incredible Hulk Movie stared Liv Tyler as Elizabeth Ross “Betty Ross”, Edward Norton as Dr. Bruce Banner aka The Hulk, Tim Roth as Emil Blonsky aka The Abomination and William Hurt as General Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross.

The Incredible Hulk movie in my opinion is one of the best Marvel comic movies ever made to date.  You can pretty learn most of what everybody else knows about the Hulk through the Incredible Hulk Movie.  The Incredible Hulk movie starts off by showing us shots of how the Incredible Hulk was made reminiscent to how the old Hulk TV series use to start off every episode. Dr. Bruce Banner flees and hides out in Brazil, working in a pop bottling factory to get by while he attempts to find a cure for the Gama radiation poisoning with the help of an anonymous friend, “Mr. Blue” with whom he chats in encrypted code online as Mr. Green. As a way for Banner to help manage his anger / excitement he seeks the help of a marital artist using meditative breathing techniques with a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu expert, Rickson Gracie. 

Where the plot begins to move in the Incredible Hulk movie, Banners whereabouts are only discovered when he cuts himself fixing a defective piece of equipment dripping blood into a soda bottle which eventually was consumed by a customer, Stan Lee.  It’s assumed in the movie some kind of transformation that brought the attention of General Ross’ endeavor to find Banner in the Incredible Hulk movie so General Thaddeus Ross accompanies a team to capture Bruce Banner The Hulk. Emil Blonsky leads the team in with General Ross listening in closely.  Following a battle with some fellow employees of the soft drink bottling plant Banner undergoes his first transformation into the Hulk in the film.  The Hulk avoids capture and Bruce Banner awakes to find himself in Guatemala. From there he travels to the United States because Mr. Blue needs more data in order to help Banner find his cure for the Hulk.  It becomes inevitable in the Incredible Hulk movie that in order to recover the data he must re-establish contact with Betty Ross, a former girlfriend but does this before intended when she discovers he is staying with a mutual friend at a pizzeria.  I loved the whole “Stanley’s Pizza” thing by the way…break the code and find “Stan Lee’s” pizza perhaps…pretty funny if you think about it.    

Later in the Incredible Hulk movie upon learning of the origins of the Hulk Blonsky wishes to become just as powerful as the Hulk motivated by his desire to be the best warrior with a side dish of revenge on Hulk for getting the best of him.  After receiving a voluntary injection of gamma radiation Blonsky is faster, stronger, has improved reflexes and faster healing qualities.  This new and improved Blonsky leads up an assault team in the Incredible Hulk Movie a second time in order to defeat the Hulk.  It begins to become evident that he has no interest in Banner himself but rather the challenge the Hulk presents as a warrior.  This second clash between the Hulk and Blonsky proves near fatal for the soldier.  After defeating Blonsky, Elizabeth Ross is nearly killed by a military helicopter but saved by the Incredible Hulk.  The Incredible Hulk later flees to a cave with Betty Ross. 

Later on, Bruce Banner and Betty Betty Ross arrive at the university in New York City where they meet Banners chat contact, “Mr. Blue”.  Mr. Blue later tries to “cure” Banner and does so at least temporarily as we discover later in the Incredible Hulk Movie.  While the Hulk is suppressed by this alleged cure Bruce Banner is hit with a tranquilizer and captured.  As Banner and Ross are being transported by Helicopter via General Ross they discover that the Abomination is reeking havoc on the city.  The Abomination was created when later Mr. Blue was forced by Blonsky into injecting him with more serum making him a hulk-like creature except with bony protrusions and a heck of a lot uglier. 

In the scenes wrapping up the Incredible Hulk movie to save the city Bruce Banner the scientist must confront within himself who he is now…part human and part Hulk.  He is forced to understand that the Hulk is now a part of who he is and although he can’t control the Hulk he can aim him.  In a touching scene Elizabeth Ross must also wrestle with the fact that she will never have her Bruce back like he was and that she too must cope with who he has become.  After a dramatic fall from the helicopter emerging from the rubble is THE HULK.  An epic battle between the Abomination and the Hulk erupts.  For a while the Hulk looks like he is not enough to defeat the Abomination but because his love for Betty Ross seems to fuel the Hulk’s strength and fury in this Incredible Hulk Movie he soon gets the upper hand on the Abomination and chokes him out in a style the Gracie family would be proud of.  Even in victory the Hulk realizes it is short lived as the military shortly after begins pursuing him again. 

Banner again finds himself in a different place and this time it in Bella Coola, British Columbia. With Banners new found attitude about setting out to control his transformations rather than cure the Hulk we get a feeling that he has come one step closer to gaining the ability to control the monster.  As he meditates he opens his eyes and they are green but rather than seeing horror on his face Edward Norton gives us a grin instead having mastered a new step in the transformation process.  Meanwhile the final scene unfolds with General Ross drunk in a bar and in walks our beloved Tony Stark aka Iron Man played by Robert Downey Jr. who reveals that a “team” is being put together which comic fans know everywhere as the AVENGERS.
